The Ritz Carlton Abama is made up of African and Moorish-inspired buildings housing guestrooms, villas and extensive facilities. Located in the shade of the volcanic Mount Teide, this property enjoys amazing views over the ocean and the neighbouring island of La Gomera. Soak up the sun on the private beach, linked to the clifftop hotel by a funicular railway.

The hotel is set on Tenerife’s west coast, to the north of the resort of Playa de las Américas. The interesting volcanic landscape is centred around Mount Teide, an extinct volcano and the highest point anywhere in Spain. Daily coach tours take you through the dense forests up to the cable car, which rises up above cloud level.

The whole property is surrounded by the hotel’s own 18-hole golf course. This course, designed by Dave Thomas, is known as one of the best on the island. You can also choose to enjoy a game of tennis or improve your game at the Sánchez-Casal Tennis Academy.

The on-site African-themed spa allows you to enjoy a session in the jacuzzi or swim in the indoor pool. You can also unwind in the thermal spa circuit or with a workout in the fitness centre.

If you travel with children you can leave them with the supervised Kid’s Club to enjoy some peaceful time alone.

Each room and villa has been built in an ethnic style using local materials such as Canary Island pine and heather. Most enjoy views over the lush gardens, golf course and Atlantic Ocean.
