Estalagem Serragolf, Santa Cruz (Ilha Da Maderia)
This hotel offers the ideal accommodation for a holiday dedicated to the practise of golf, with the wonderful Santo da Serra Golf Course just a few minutes walk away.
Estalagem Serragolf is situated in the picturesque village of Santo da Serra, surrounded by an important and dense woodland, part of the marvellous laurissilva forest, classified as world heritage in 1999. The proximity to the levadas (water courses) and veredas (footpaths) of Madeira permits lovely and unforgettable walks. Alternatively, there are 3 gorgeous beaches just a pleasant stroll from the hotel.
As the Estalagem is an associate member of the Santo da Serra Golf Club, its guests are guaranteed starting times, hire of golf equipment and even a 30 per cent discount in green fees.
The village of Santo Antonio da Serra is situated at an altitude of 675 metres, on a plateau hanging over the cities of Santa Cruz and Machico. It is a privileged zone for the islanders to spend their holidays. In this area we can still find lovely country houses (Quintas da Madeira) surrounded by marvellous gardens, which makes this region one of the most charming mountain resorts in Madeira. In the centre of the village there is a famous country house, Quinta da Junta, a nice and pleasant place for walking and leisure, with beautiful plants, flowers and old trees. This was one the first properties of the family Blandy outside Funchal.
It is in Santo da Serra that one can find the magnificent golf course of Santo da Serra Golf Club, designed by Robert Trent Jones, with its fine clubhouse. It was rebuilt in October 2000 and since 1993 the Madeira island open tournament of the European PGA tour takes place here.
